RickRoll'd
So, it seems impossible for us to have a pop culture class and not discuss the power of youtube to create or re-invent an epic phenomenon. the biggest one i can think of is definitely RickRolling, though the snl skit Dickinabox comes in a close second.
and since i can't get a vid link to work i will just post the links:
You know you have to click the first one (strangely addictive)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBGIQ7ZuuiU
and i can't find a hosted Dickinabox anymore on youtube so good luck with that, and happy RICKROLLING.

hrm, I had to Wikipedia rickrolling to get what it actually means. That's so strange. I've been Dickinaboxed (wow, that sounded better in my head), but this is my first rickrolling (that, too, sounded better in my head).

A very small, very loud minority on the internet (the internet, for crying out loud!) does not legitimize anything as an epic phenomenon.
But now I know who goes to 4chan in our class, which is info I could have done without
Speaking of which this smiley (:afro:) is a horrible yet awesome coincidence.

Re: RickRoll'd
Very small minority? rickrolld videos have 5 million views on one and 4 million on another, at one point there was a video with 17 million views, and before dickinabox was taken down there was at least that many. How can you call that a minority? I definitely think that counts as an epic phenomenon, if any television show could muster that many viewers, they would easily control the network.

17 million on the Internet is like six people in real life.
