The video sidebar, for context: "This fascinating, brilliant 20-minute video narrates the history of the "Amen Break," a six-second drum sample from the b-side of a chart-topping single from 1969. This sample was used extensively in early hiphop and sample-based music, and became the basis for drum-and-bass and jungle music -- a six-second clip that spawned several entire subcultures. Nate Harrison's 2004 video is a meditation on the ownership of culture, the nature of art and creativity, and the history of a remarkable music clip."
OK, yes, this guy has an absolutely atrocious voice -- dull in timbre and with an intonation and awkward sense of timing suggesting a computerized young William Shatner on Quaaludes. He is a horrible reader of his own writing. But please do not let that keep you from watching this video!

"High-brow posturing"? "Fetishization & self-indulgence"?
Give me a break. (Pun intended.)
He does, however, offer some insight, perspective and wise words in wrapping things up.
I'll come back to this and expound on some of my thoughts on the matter in a bit. Hopefully then there will be more that can serve as a catalyst for discussion.
In the meantime, though, go ahead if anything strikes you!
